Thrivemodal Case Study
From Two Failed Offshore Attempts to Success in Expanding a Track & Trace Team
How Full-Tilt built a reliable offshore expansion team after two failed attempts, with in-country support from the ThriveCore team and the right placements.
The Challenge
Before working with Thrivemodal, Full-Tilt had tried twice to build an offshore team, and neither attempt worked.
The first attempt placed a representative in Thailand. The language barrier was severe enough that the hire struggled not just with spoken English, but with navigating basic tools like Microsoft Teams and Outlook. Full-Tilt stuck with the arrangement for about two months before deciding it wasn’t working.
The second attempt, in Jamaica, ran into a different set of problems: unreliable internet and no local access to phones. Full-Tilt had to ship company phones overseas, which brought customs fees and delays. One of the phones never arrived.
The Jamaica attempt lasted about a month before Full-Tilt gave up on it.
By Desi’s estimate, the Thailand attempt cost Full-Tilt roughly tens of thousands a month in the combined time of three people — himself, the company’s owner, and another manager — plus transport costs, over the two months the arrangement lasted. The Jamaica attempt cost less since it never got off the ground, but still ran up roughly $10,000 in Desi’s own time and shipping costs, with no successful placement to show for it.
“That phone we shipped overseas is still, to this day, three years later, somewhere stuck in customs.”

The Results
The difference showed up almost immediately, and not just in the hires themselves.
Full-Tilt pointed to the ThriveCore team’s ongoing, in-country support as the biggest change from its previous attempts. Where the Thailand and Jamaica efforts had left Desi and his team to sort out problems alone, Thrivemodal provided an in-country point of contact who could communicate directly with Isaiah and Kenneth, plus IT support that worked directly with Full-Tilt’s own IT team and its transportation management system.
The Hiring Process
Full-Tilt needed Track & Trace representatives who could closely monitor shipments, communicate with carriers and customers, catch problems early, and help loads arrive on time. Given the company’s past experience, there was real hesitation going in.
Through Thrivemodal’s 10 out of 10 Placement Process, the ThriveCore team interviewed three candidates for the role. Full-Tilt had planned to hire just one person, but the quality of the candidates changed that calculus. Instead of choosing one, Full-Tilt hired two — Isaiah and Kenneth — giving the team more immediate capacity to support a growing freight volume.
